The Story
Lumos start the way most good ideas do — out of frustration. Amanda had been teaching young learners online for years. She loved her work and her students, but she was exhausted from building all of the materials from scratch and never using them again. She couldn’t find a progressive curriculum designed for independent online ESL teachers that she loved, so she designed to make one for herself.
Meet Henry
Henry is the guide at the center of the Lumos world. He shows up in every lesson curious, friendly, and always ready to learn alongside students. Students recognize Henry and get excited to have a fun character to join on their learning journey (some students want to EAT Henry too, which can also make for silly conversations, as Henry is not available to be eaten!). Overall, Henry doesn’t just make lessons more enjoyable, but he helps the teacher in providing lessons that students look forward to.
The Lumos Vision
The vision is for Lumos to be more than a lesson library but a true place for teachers to come together and feel seen/supported on their teaching journey. It’s a complete, growing curriculum built to give independent teachers something that they don’t have outside of a standard classroom - structure, polish, and a clear path for their students.
